EVERY APPLICATION DESERVES A RESPONSE

We all know the feeling.  You spot a job that you really think is just right.  You set aside a couple of hours of your precious personal time to do some research on the company and the show (you even talk to work colleagues to see what they think), and you refresh your CV focusing on the talents which the job ad. specifies are ‘essential’ or ‘desirable’. Yet, all too often it seems, when (after considerable care has been taken and time expended) you submit the application in the form specified with CV and with other documents requested all refreshed and added……NO RESPONSE.

How is it that a company that advertised for someone with your exact skills and experience (sometimes even picked you out from the Freelist and asked you to apply) can’t even be bothered to acknowledge your carefully put together application, or let you know if you weren’t successful?  

We know many members dont think that this is right and neither do we- in fact we think it is downright rude and bad manners on the part of employers who need our skills to run their shows!

The survey linked here will provide SMA with valuable information to show to Freelist users and other stage management employers and remind them of their responsibilities.

This first simple survey will be open for at least two weeks. so please do respond.
